"You make a new life by making new choices" - Sean Stephenson
Apologies for not updating in quite some time. Life tends to take over and priorities shift. Its been an exciting few months with lots of changes and growth.
Firstly, I managed to get a table at the Dallas Pen Show the first week of September and spent many nights after my day job working on a few items to take with me. Compared to most I didn't have anywhere near the inventory which had me questioning my being there to be honest. The show is 2 days long (Friday and Saturday) with an initial meet and greet the day before (Thursday). Though I know of some vendors and people through Instagram and FB, it was finally nice to meet some of them in person (IG tags below with pictures). My initial reservations were quickly dismissed when I sold most of what I had, gained a few commissions, and made some new friends. All in all it was a success and I will try again this year. Even if my inventory is low, I am guaranteed a great time and that to me is totally worth it. Hopefully I will get to stay both days. I left a day early as it was my sons first ever football game and I wouldn't miss it for the world!
In other news, through word of mouth, I managed to get a great opportunity creating custom business card holders for a large O&G company. They were in search of something small, simple and useful in an office, and it had to showcase their technology. After 6 revisions we finally agreed on a design and an initial order was placed. The recipients feedback was great and since then more card holders have been made :D Through this I was fortunate enough to invest in a laser engraver which will not only help grow the business, but allow me to customize and personalize some of the handmade items I currently make.
Lastly, if you haven't noticed, there have been some much needed changes to my website. As planned, I will be re-introducing some more woodwork into the mix and in order to do this with some structure, I thought it best to divide my pens and woodwork into their own "sections". I then got thinking.......I might as well create a new logo. If you take a look at the new logo, you will see that it is the nib of a fountain pen with the letters "MWP" on it. It is then surrounded with the same (though thickened) wreath and finished in brushed brass. This means new stickers, packing tape, etc. but it also means new growth.
So, on that note, happy new year to you all, and hope you have a great 2018!
